The history of Schoenstatt in India begins with the Shrine in Aloor, blessed in 1969. It was the initiative of Rev. Fr. Jose Akkarakaran, a diocesan priest (presently the diocese of Irinjalakuda) who has visited Schoenstatt, in Germany in 1968 and built the Shrine with the intention to bring the mission of Schoenstatt mission in India. The 50th Jubilee of Shrine in Aloor was celebrated with the Holy mass, presided by Mar Pauly Kannookadan, the bishop of Irijalakuda on 26th October 2019.
