“A church if not send, naturally it will end” – (Apostolic Letter MAXIMUM ILLUD, Benedict XIV) Inspired by the Mother Church and guided by the words of the Founder, Fr. Joseph Kentenich, (At the sending out of the first 7 missionaries to South Africa, in December 17th, 1933). He says “Please pause a moment to consider: Does not this sending out mean an extraordinary powerful confirmation of a simple supernatural faith? We think of how, humanly speaking, it means taking a risk of the first degree for a community- in its entire structure something original and modern, not orienting itself on existing religious life but representing a world of its own…to move out and transplant itself into a foreign world…” The Schoenstatt Congregation started its mission in the diocese of Faridabad, Punjab, North India. Punjab is the cradle of Sikhism and the land of five rivers. Just as the land of Punjab is fertile, so is the mind of the people to accept Jesus. The people are sympathetic and tolerant to Christian Missionaries. The providence of God is always at work. Rev. Dr. Kuriakose Baranikulangara, Bishop of the Diocese of Faridabad- Delhi, invited the Schoenstatt congregation to work in his diocese. The year 2022 stands out as a milestone in the history of the Providence Region of Schoenstatt Fathers- Kerala. Three schoenstatt fathers (Fr. Praveen, Fr. Jithin and Fr. Sinto) were send to Punjab on 1st June, 2022. They are living in different mission stations of Faridabad – Delhi diosease. Fr.Praveen and Jithin (Jaito), Fr.Sinto (Bernala), and later, Fr. Binoi (Kalkaji – Delhi), are actively involved in different mission activities of the diosease and getting mission experience for our beginning in Punjab, north India. They are mainly involved in the Village ministry, Parish ministry, School Ministry etc. Punjab mission has now opened a platform for us to realize the unrealized dream of becoming a schoenstatt missionary in our own home land. We are in the initial stage of observing and learning about mission in Punjab. May the Lord strengthen us to go forward with courage and conviction. May Mother Thrice Admirable lead us in the path of evangelization and schoenstatization by our life and witness in the land of Punjab, North India
